It isn't just that the world's number two ranked singles player is raising Sugiyama's game. Sugiyama has been this sensational at doubles in the recent past being ranked number one in the world, not just this year but previously from Dec. 25, 2000, to Aug. 26, 2001. |

■■■■ The wins at the Slam events are great and all but the most impressive feat in her career occurred at the 2003 State Farm Women's Tennis Classic in Scottsdale, Arizona. On Sunday, March 2, she started off her day playing the end of her Saturday rain-delayed singles semi-final beating Alexandra Stevenson 6-7, 7-5, 7-6. Then she proceeded to beat her doubles partner, Clijsters, 3-6, 7-5, 6-4 to win the final. |
